The river is generally class II above Victoria Falls and class IV-V (some V+) below the falls. The toughest rapids are Minus1, Minus2, #5(StairwayToHeaven), #7(Gulliver'sTravels), #9 (CommercialSuicide), UpperMoemba, LowerMoemba (V+/P), ChibongoFalls (V+/P), GhostRider, DeepThroat, and AsleepAtTheWheel.
On general trips, it is possible to enter or exit the expedition at several access points. see below. Private Outfitting Service groups can start and end at any point they desire.
Raft trips will continue in the main season each year (Aug-Dec) until the Batoka Dam is constructed and flooding the main gorge.
